Yukon First Nations are pleased to see an event that not only promises humor and challenges but also embraces the important themes of anti-bullying, community, and support for LGBTQ2SI+ individuals. Our culture has always emphasized the significance of unity, acceptance, and understanding. This celebration of diversity is a powerful reminder of the strength that comes from a supportive community.
The Yukon's arts and theatre scene is strengthened by leaders like Jenny Hamilton and Larrikin Entertainment Ensemble. Bravo to the many Yukoners instrumental in the development and production of Teenage Cult Leader. I’m certain audiences across the Yukon - in Whitehorse, Haines Junction, Dawson City and Atlin, BC, will be thoroughly entertained! Enjoy the show!
As Yukon’s Minister of Tourism and Culture it is my pleasure to welcome you to the Yukon’s newest production:

Katherine McCallum
Artistic Executive Producer, Larrikin Entertainment
I met Jenny Hamilton just after I arrived in the Yukon in late 2006. We were working on So Many Doors for Sour Brides Theatre and we hit it off right away. We then ended up working together at the Guild for four years. In that time I got to know Jenny as a stage manager, a general manager, a tech director, a friend and mentor and, after a while, a comedian and writer of very funny shit. On more than one occasion, watching her comedy, I had to concentrate intensely to avoid an awkward pelvic floor moment.
While in Haines Alaska on a camping trip with my partner Andrew and our friend Tony in 2022, I lamented that I didn't have an idea for the next Larrikin show. Tony asked me who I knew that could write something that would fit with Larrikin's aesthetic. Instantly I said "Jenny Hamilton" and he said "ask her to write a show" and I said "great idea".
So I did. And here we are. Thanks Tony!
Jenny's comedy is funny because it comes from a place of deep darkness and serious sorrow. It's what makes her so relatable. It's why this show was such a no-brainer. Jenny was absolutely primed to write a one-woman-autobiographical-queer-coming-of-age-in-1980s-Yukon show.
I'm so proud of Jenny, taking her most vulnerable childhood moments and sharing them publicly with such uninhibited generosity. I'm so thankful to Clinton for his joy in every tiny detail, to Ashley for taking Jenny's vision and making it musical, for Andrew and his wonderful animations, and to this team of dedicated theatre creators who have gone above and beyond the to lift Jenny up and make this whole thing shine, shine, and shine some more. Enjoy the ride folks! - KM

Jenny Hamilton
Writer, Lyricist, Performer, Teenage Cult Leader
When I was asked by Katherine McCallum, Larrikin's Artistic Executive Director, to write and perform a show, I took the old adage ‘write what you know’ to heart and wrote an autobiographical comedy. My teenage years instantly came to mind. It was a crazy time for me. All my successes and failures then, fuelled by a hormone soaked brain, it had all the elements for comedy!
I am definitely pushing myself beyond my comfort zone in this show. I love to try new things, and I haven’t held back here. Ha!
I’m elated to share my story. We all have one. Telling our stories is how we connect. Sure, mine might be different from yours - mine has puppets - but there is probably something in my story that you relate to.
I hope you enjoy the show as much as I have making it. It’s been a wild ride!
Jenny Hamilton is a Yukon Comedian, Writer and Entertainer. She has been performing for over a decade, with only a global pandemic keeping her from the stage. Named as one of the 50 Canadian Comics to watch out for by MSN and Reader's Digest, Jenny regularly performs stand-up comedy both nationally and internationally. She has hosted (and roasted) politicians and Royals at venues as diverse as beer fests and bars to soft seat theatres. She is a crowd favorite of burly miners, grandmas and everyone in-between. Jenny has performed on stages from Alaska to Australia, and has been a semi-regular guest on CBC’s The Debaters, Sirius XM and OUT T.V. You can also hear her on her #1 chart topping comedy album, “Kegels Champion”; on Just for Laughs Originals North; and on the podcast, The ‘Horse, which she co-hosts with Dan Bushnell (available anywhere you get your music and podcasts).
Clinton Walker
Director and Dramaturge
Ahhh puberty! Part wonderland, part minefield. It's one of the great equalizers that we all must endure in the journey to become ourselves. In Teenage Cult Leader, Jenny bravely steps up to the plate to recount the hilarious, cringeworthy and heartbreaking experiences that made her who she is today. It is exciting to see an accomplished performer like Jenny step out of her lane and try something new and unexpected. I am so thankful to Jenny and Kat for inviting me to contribute to this fabulous show. It has been a blast to work with the whole creative team to bring this story to the stage!

Ashley Robyn
Musical Composer, Musical Director
I first met Jenny when we were both hired as writers in 2021 for Larrikin Entertainment's production of WYRD. It was an instantaneous connection of hilarity and sass, and I was so inspired by everything Jenny brought to the table each day. It was a no-brainer when I was asked to come onboard and co-write the music for Jenny’s show. The moments are both silly and heartfelt, and underpinning them musically has been a wonderful challenge. Clinton Walker, Director and Dramaturge, is an absolute gem of talent, positivity and I have been so supported by his wondrous direction. This is an incredible crew all around that has made this process such a pleasure.
To be a part of helping Jenny tell her story is an absolute honour, and I am thrilled to return to The Yukon to work in this community again. I have fallen deeply for this beautiful place, and the amazing and kooky people who call it home. I promise I’m keeping it a secret from all my coast pals.
Ashley Robyn is a Vancouver-based composer, vocalist, producer and musician. A five-year intensive music and drama training program at The Langley Fine Arts School led her to graduate with awards and scholarships for playwriting and musicianship. Her professional music career began in 2008 working as a lead vocalist, backup singer, and songwriter for various local Vancouver projects including Fake Shark, Jack Garton, Jackie Treehorn, and more. She recently performed for Yukon audiences as Macbeth in Larrikin Entertainment’s production of WYRD, along with co-writing several music numbers.

Jordan Hope Kaltenbruner was born in Calgary AB, scurried to Squamish BC for a liberal arts degree and now calls Whitehorse her home. She’s a burlesque artist, radio show host, theater performer & somatic therapy enthusiast and now gets to stage manage for the one and only Jenny Hamilton. Jordan met Jenny on the set of WYRD (Larrikin Entertainment, 2023) and since those fateful moments, Jordan has been a fan of Jenny’s forevermore. It might be because of Jenny’s outrageous sense of humor. It might be because she makes any conversation a great one. It might just be that she is also a trusted friend of Mary Jane. But no matter the case, it’s a perfect honor and a privilege to keep time for this show.
