The Apocalypse is Over - A Post-Apocalyptic Cabaret
Rehearsal dates | March 31 – April 28, 2025 – rehearsal schedule and location tbc
Show dates | April 29 - May 10, 2025 - Tuesday to Saturday 8pm at the Old Fire Hall
Why audition?
Do you want to work with amazing people and have more fun than a barrel of plastic monkeys competing with Fortnite for little Jonny’s attention?
Do you sing? Dance? Act? Juggle? Play an instrument? Tap Dance? Gargle the alphabet? Back flip? Front flip? Flip like Elon Musk at a Trump rally?
Would you consider doing all of these things at once?
Do you like theatre that questions the powers that be while it simultaneously entertains?
Have you always wanted to be part of a huge cast having ALL the fun on stage and off in a supportive, safe, and inclusive environment?
If the answer is yes to more than two of these questions then…
this notice is for YOU!
What will you be auditioning for?
Good question!
A cabaret! An Atomic Vaudeville Cabaret.
(Google can help fill in the blanks, or see below)
More easily described by what it might NOT be - variety show, sketch comedy, burlesque, musical theatre - this Cabaret is a collective labour of love that pushes theatre, kicking and screaming, into the future by fusing the common and secret joy of coarse amusement with a conscious desire to engage in a thoughtful dialogue about our uneasy connected existence as people in a community.
Think Monty Python meets the Muppet Show. Think hipster Beachcombers. Think...actually, try not to think too much at all.
Clear? Great! See you there!
AUDITION DETAILS:
When? Saturday January 18 , 2025 1-4 pm
Where? Sternwheeler Hotel (conference room tbc - there will be signage)
These are paid positions by honorarium
(honorarium amount tbc at the end of February when funding numbers are confirmed)
Time commitment:
Rehearsals - approximately 25-30 hours per week for 4 weeks
Show - two weeks x 5 nightly performances each (Tues-Sat)
Rehearsals will be afternoons/evenings and possible weekends and scheduled around cast availability as much as possible.
This will be a group audition – bring your A-game...
and/or your uke, rollerskates, fav puppet, juggling balls, tap shoes etc.
Wear comfy clothes for moving around, choreography, improvisation, singing and silliness.
If you've always loved singing, dancing, acting, doing stand-up, drag, burlesque, or any other form of joyful performance expression, and enjoy being a part of large-cast musical numbers, have a two-minute bit you would love to perform, or some other performance itch you'd like to scratch, come join the fun! We are hoping to share the stage (and this amazing experience) with emerging and professional performers from the Yukon community who would like to: hone their craft and learn new stuff by working with exciting directors and musical directors from Victoria and Vancouver, add a professional show to their resume, thrill and enthrall Yukon's theatre-going public, and have more fun than that barrel of Sisyphean monkeys mentioned above.
Performers must be 18 years and older - this show will contain deliciously coarse language, and very saucy adult themes.
For more information please send inquiries, resumes and headshots (just a well lit photo of your face) to: larrikinentertainment@gmail.com and/or call Kat on 867 335 2288 to chat.
If you cannot be at the auditions in person, please send a self-tape to Kat at the email above. Call for guidance if you have any questions.

About Atomic Vaudeville
In 2004 Victoria-based actor/director Britt Small, together with playwright Jacob Richmond, formed Atomic Vaudeville and started putting up shows once a month, each one a “short-form melange of theatre, music, song, dance, puppetry and sketch”. They soon found themselves with a rabid, addicted audience, and the AV shows quickly gained attention and notoriety for their razor-sharp observational humour and decidedly un-PC approach, and have since gained a cult following with audience members often travelling great distances to see them. Since its inception in 2004, AV has produced over 87 cabaret shows in Victoria, Vancouver, Toronto, Whitehorse, and Bellingham, and worked with over 200 local and visiting artists. Besides cabarets, Atomic Vaudeville has produced the plays Ride the Cyclone, BlissKrieg, The Qualities of Zero, Legoland, The History of Everything, and Circus Fire in Toronto, Seattle, Bellingham, Prague, New York, Victoria, and Vancouver. Atomic Vaudeville has also been commissioned to create new work for the Victoria Erotica Film and Arts Festival, the Monday Magazine Awards, the Victoria Art Gallery, the Luminara Festival, the Vancouver International Burlesque Festival and the BC Film Commission Conference.
Thank you to the Government of Yukon, City of Whitehorse, Lotteries Yukon, and the Yukon Arts Centre's @YAC Residency for supporting this project.
